And so the nice weather continues…

Belfast has been basking under glorious sunshine for well over a week, and I have been able to spend time in the garden and allotment, preparing the ground for the coming season. I think at this point that I have it all nearly ready to rock and roll, save for a couple of spud beds that are waiting for the broccoli to finish. The day was mightily improved with the lack of aircraft chundering in and out of George Best, courtesy of Eyjafjallajokull. (Hey, spellchecker, get off my case, that was perfect!)

I have started a new compost heap, and this time I hope to do i better. I am leading a walk in Ormeau Park tomorrow (Saturday) under the “Neighbourhood Bird Watch” banner, but afterwards is a composting workshop (Happy Days) in east Belfast courtesy of the NI Organic Growers Association which should help to put me right.

Marsh Marigold in the pond

If nothing else, the sunshine is making the pond come to life,

and the display from my Marsh Marigolds is stunning.

Other stuff starting to grow are the Broad Beans, garlic and Purple Sprouting Broccoli (or PSB for those gardening-heads). I picked some of the PSB today and we will have it with the dinner.
